Canon,
I agree with you completely, a quick flick through the first page reveals a lot of spam posts, and no matter what advice is given the culprits simply cannot or will not put in the time and work into a decent skin and instead bombard us with their crappy rushed jobs. I think I'm getting better at skinning, i'm going to start takining my time, my next project is a Nasa Space Shuttle for hte A-20.
Should I stop making them from the voids?? Am I a better mission maker then I am a skinner?? Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way home, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. |

To put it bluntly:
You should stop releasing your skins until you improve, they are low quality rush jobs that show no thought, care or skill. What I suggest is taking your time to make the skins using one of the many fine templates out there until such a time that you are able to make a skin that isnt a crappy single colour layer over the void or any of these space styled things you are releasing at the moment. Of course if someone expresses and interest in the skin send it to them or make it available to them, but stop bombarding every forum you visit with your substandard work. LOTS of people have been trying to help you to be a better skinner as well as to "fit in better" on the forums but I think the fact you've listened to none of it has made a lot of people think you are just some little kid. Take your time on skins, learn the basics, bby all means have a thread that you show your works in progress and ask for advice in if stuck, you may get lucky and still have people who are willing to spend some time with you to help. Take a look over at M4T or flying legends and compare the vast majority of those skins available to the work you have been churning out, there are clear differences in the level of detail, the care put in, the skill needed to make those skins and above all the time put into them, some can probably be counted as works of ART with the amount of care and trouble has been put into them! Then look at yours, if you think they are anywhere near as good I'd advise giving up and going to play hello kitty island adventure. So please, take onboard al lthe advice people have been TRYING to give you and take your time, focus on one area and start at the beginning with the basics. My next project:
I also figured out how to do weathering. Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way home, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. |

another one colour job...

OK do it BUT do it as well as this historic scheme deserves. If you dont plan to spend time doing it well it's not worth showing it here or elsewhere. This particular skin as already been done with great talent by other skinners take their work as inspiration for your work. |

Jesters-INk's very good P-51D template Owl, skinning should be about quality not quantity. Most people only fly using a very small number of favorite skins. Canon, where have you been? Have you been doing much skinning lately? I'll confess I have not... |

Have a look at mission4today.com or flying-legends.net and see if you can find a good P-51 template. If you decide to use one, make sure you give the author proper credit for his work.

This Forums seen better days for sure.
Though I havnt helped, I pretty much stopped showing off skins. I have a thread at AAA and its the only place now I pimp my skins. There isnt Im afraid a place where all skinners hang out. I drift around 4-5 different forums to see whats new and there seems to be a number of newer guys reinventing the wheel, some of course doing a really good job others not quite there yet, the lighting and simulated 3D that is being added to skins now is way ahead of anything even we saw a few years ago. Maybe I will starting putting my stuff up here again, but I felt that the only ones who saw them were other skinners and I never got much feedback good or bad and looking through the last few pages it hasnt really changed. Strangely enough -Owl- has breathed some life in this board, not exactly in a positive way but at least theres actual disscussion happening |

Panel lines and rivets need sorting, needs some weathering and some 3D effects. But already its a lot better than the previous crap you churned out.
Tkae your time and put some effort into it and you'll eventually get a relatively decent skin out of it. Take a look at al lthe others who have skinned this aircraft to get some ideas and inspiration for your own work Good luck V Oberstleutnant Valantine Zimmermann II./JG53 Kommandeur Co-op Squadron Recruiting!!!
