Is this historical? Russians never painted stars on the upper sides with blank down sides. Great majority of planes had stars only on down wing surfaces.
This aside, skin looks great! Thanks for sharing. No one in sane mind ever turns when he has any other option. ~ DKoor |

Guten Tag! I know the russians didn't piant the top, but nor did the spits fly in cold weather nor did they belong to the russians. Thanks for the complement. well the russians did use Spitfires around Kuban and Crimea in 43 i think but for the stars placement and winter time it might be slightly off historical but what the heck, looks like a nice skin..a screenshot wouldn't hurt though.

Owl,
Just some info for you, according to Bill Gunston's 'Aircraft of World War Two',143 Mk.V(5) Spitfires were sent to the Soviets, and 1,188 Mk.IX's. Most were delivered in the standard RAF grey/green camouflage, although some are thought to have later been painted by the Russians in thier own types of camouflage. The Fighter Collection currently holds a wrecked Mk.IX in storage that was recovered from Russia. Their website contains some pics that might be worth a look. Another Spit IX was also recovered from Russia a few years back. She hit the ground in an inverted flat spin sometime in 1944, killing the pilot. There was originally a plan to restore this aircraft to airworthy condition, but I think the plan was abandoned due to the very substantial damage. The spitfires were lend lease to the Russians so technically were owened by them and did operate in cold weather. As for the skin though: The skin looks a bit better than your others so you are improving slowly. Suggestions for this one are to look around for some historical resources for info on the markings used, heres two to get you started: http://www.thescale.info/news/...sian-spitfires.shtml http://lend-lease.airforce.ru/...icles/spit/index.htm Good luck V Oberstleutnant Valantine Zimmermann II./JG53 Kommandeur Co-op Squadron Recruiting!!! Stealth the talent really lays with the historical stuff. That is my aim. The used battle beaten weathered as real as you can make it,is the art And getting the camo paint on some of these temp is a long process. A screen shot would be cool it does look good though. |
