Quite a journey of self-discovery, this odyssey has been:

Too bad that the red cowling is an old error that some decal makers refuse to correct. Actually as early as 1939 red was officially banned by the Luftwaffe leadership as marking color (after several "unfortunate" incidents between Stukas and 109s over Poland), although some units retained their red numbers for quite a while (what the higher-ups don't know can't get them worked up
 ). |

I guess they change their mind by late 1944 or something... Jv44 has red painted whole underside on their Fockes
