I think they look cool.
Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way home, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV. |

I use PaintShopPro X by Corel. Corel is currently up to version 14 and goes for about quarter to half the cost of comparible PhotoShops.
While PhotoShop is probably more user friendly and capable of a more one click tricks, PaintShopPro can achieve most anything PhotoShop does with a just few more clicks. I started skinning as soon as I started playing IL2, it was one of the attractions. I also have an art background which has helped considerably. The longer you do it the more tricks you learn. I keep a folder full of Roundels (Round Fuselage National Markings) I have found on the Internet. The Game does not correctly place roundels on all planes, particularly American. I Googled "Checkerboard Images" and was rewarded with page after page of black and white, or red and black checkerboards. I found one that wasn't obviously copyrighted, copied it, then filled the white squares with yellow. It took a couple tries before I got the scale of the squares correct. Lately, little touches, like the "RESCUE" arrow for canopy release, or "DANGER PROP" warnings seem to add nice touches of realism. I also have been going to the Japanese Kanji Dictionaryfor Danger and Rescue Caligraphy the Emperor's planes. Thanks Again. |

very creative skins ... good stuff
a well made skin is a well made skin, in the end what people appreciate is a skin that looks like a real paint scheme on an actual aircraft whether its an air racing skin or historical or total fantasy is beside the point skinning is like learning to ride a horse or maybe a better example is learning to do stunts on a skateboard - there is a limit to what reading about it can achieve and the more you practice and work on perfecting your skills the better you get _________________________________ Some random "stuff" : WTE (Australasian IL2 Squadron): http://www.wte-anga.com/ RAF 3 Sdn '38 and 72 Sqdn: http://tinyurl.com/3RAF1938 http://tinyurl.com/72sqdn N5519 Charity 1939: http://tinyurl.com/n5519 |
