When I get bored have been filling in time building up a collection of prop textures for use with the J8A.
I will probably upload a full selection of these textures sometime for people to use when creating WWI hacks or just looking for something a bit different to the generic prop. Here are a few of the more interesting ones ... First up a US made Hartzell Liberty propeller from the "Hartzell Walnut Propeller Company" of Piqua Ohio. The original was from an OX5 engine. This is my favorite. The next prop is from the Avia company in Czechoslavakia. It is a laminated prop bound with fabric bandages usually doped in the same color as the upper fuselage. The texture was taken from a B534 on static display in a museum. We cannot forget the UK. This next prop also clearly shows the laminated prop construction. The texture was copied from a WWI Sopwith Triplane propellor. This next texture is from a prop for a Hall Scott A7A engine. the original prop was almost certainly used on the Standard J1 a WWI US trainer. This is a black and yellow two blade fixed pitch Watts propeller. These famous wooden propellers were used on Gladiators and also the early Spitfires and Hurricanes. German built Heine propeller of unknown usage. It is believed to have been designed for a BMW engine. This propeller was used on the Bristol Fighter model F2B, it was fitted to the variant which used the 200 HP Siddeley/ Puma engine. EDIT: More props added This message has been edited. Thanx, its more something I am doing just for the sake of it. I like playing with textures. If I am going to upload them sometime I will need to go back and do matching hubs. Aside from the Watts and a second dark sea gray Watts that isn't posted, I can't see myself (or anyone else for that matter) ever using most of these _________________________________ Some random "stuff" : WTE (Australasian IL2 Squadron): http://www.wte-anga.com/ RAF 3 Sdn '38 and 72 Sqdn: http://tinyurl.com/3RAF1938 http://tinyurl.com/72sqdn N5519 Charity 1939: http://tinyurl.com/n5519 |

Is it a coincidence you bumped this topic almost a year to the day from the last reply?

lol ... I had forgotten all about these props till now I have absolutely no idea why Tuphlandng went back a year and dug this thread up I still have the prop layers somewhere but never got around to finishing the propellor hubs ... which surprisingly were much much harder to get right than the prop blades. _________________________________ Some random "stuff" : WTE (Australasian IL2 Squadron): http://www.wte-anga.com/ RAF 3 Sdn '38 and 72 Sqdn: http://tinyurl.com/3RAF1938 http://tinyurl.com/72sqdn N5519 Charity 1939: http://tinyurl.com/n5519 |
