Hello Gentlemen,
Please be aware that skins of the P51 D done by ME109/Nighthawk, currently hosted by 'Flying Legends' which claim the template for the skins are his work completely are false, the template hes put together is a chop shop job of Leadspitters(metal),Jesters(metal, effects., lines), NN Avirex (metal, effects) & mine (metal, effects, 3D).
This individual has emabarrased himself previously here at Ubi by making claims that work by one of our most respected skinners is his, namely Cannon, further to this hes made claims that profile work By none other than the famed Thierry Dekker is his, now this idiot lying toad is claiming that a P51D template hes chopped from others is his work & his work entirely....

I would like to ask anyone with any respect for what skinners & template makers past and present do & give completely free of charge to the community, give this clowns 'supposed' work a wide berth, he has continually tried to decieve the community with false claims as to his prowess as a 'Skinner'...

In my view, Skinning is an art, respect is earned as is knowledge, what 'Real' 'Skinners' create they create thru experience over years, its not borrowed, stolen or thrown together in the hopes no one can tell its 'Bull****'

I would also like to urge 'Flying legends' to remove any 'Work' by this individual for their own good, the work claimed by this clown, can be proved beyond any doubt to be purely fictional, anyone wishing to see proof of this clowns blatant theft will upon request be provided with a psd overlay of his'Supposed' work clearly showing my accusations to be true ...

I shouldnt Imagine intellectual copyright is something that will affect you for obvious reasons, you have to create something no one else has for it to be ripped off, give it a try one day, youve been 'Sinning' long enough, oopsie did I miss the 'K' out...

Dude all of the skinners listed above have uploaded there skins and templates for free under a few rules. Give them credit where it is due and dont take credit for their countless hours off work.

Sorry folks, but I got to agree with Shooter here. 90% of the skinners out there are honest about what they do...never steal, sample or fudge the credits. It's understood that something like this can happen when you make your work available to the world, however you don't expect it. You try to protect your work by adding "read me" files to the d/ls with rules for use of your stuff. It just seems that some people don't understand the amount of time and effort that goes into creating this stuff, and have little or no respect for the artist who made it when they disregard the stipulations of the "read me" file. How hard is it to understand "DON'T STEAL MY STUFF"?

Now, here's and oldie but a goodie by Sparty:

I think it appropriate that some rules be applied as a sticky in each forum for skinners , as there are enough tutorials teaching newbies the art of skinning ..how about a general guideline for credit and acknowledgement?

Here's my attempt and rules i apply..

1: ALWAYS read the readme in downloaded skins...there be the rules for use!
2: ALWAYs credit another skinners work for full use of template
3: If you are using a small or partial amount of a template and you are in doubt (because its only a rivet) then contact the original author either in P/M or E-mail
4: NEVER EVER remove an atists tag from a template , wether it be a FULL template or TECH LAYER.....these people have put a lot of work into this work.
5: NEVER EVER EVER !!! pass off anybody's work off as your OWN!

Now then ...these 'RULES' seem pretty straight forward and common sense but still even lately i have noticed some of these 'abuses' by known authors...know i'm a live and let live kind of guy but i hate to see people wronged!

It truely baffels me when people don't understand this...seems very simple to me. It's been posted before, stickied in threads and beaten into the heads of every skinner out there...there is no excuse for not respecting other people and their work.

Yes, but some people take their intellectual property very seriously. You must also understand that several skinners are also actual wage-earning artists of one stripe or another. They are obligated to defend their work unless they want to lose their means of income.

This is similar to the old argument about the difference between "free" and "free beer". Free means it's yours and you can do with it what you want. You only borrow free beer ; it still belongs to someone else. Templates and skins are free beer.

hmmmm.Personaly.If im useing some of OTHERS work even compiled by very different way and if shareing it on web i always adding "Credit" file where everyting is mentioned because i respect all skinners work especially these who shareing templates because i exactly know how hard you work on them.I know this m8 and ill say he not respecting your work.

This isn't the first time he has ripped other people's work off. I would have thought he would have learned his lesson with the way the community reacted last time, but I guess he is simply too stupid to know any better or to have the skills necessary to create decent pieces of art and as such feels he has to rip them off.

Ok folks..this old chestnut again lol...as far as i understand ..the person in question is still a child ( not an excuse ) but as such has no understanding of whats really at stake here as that takes maturity!..so ..in all fairness..somebody make him a glass of warm milk, pack him off to bed... while the rest of us trash his school books, homework and pens...

@Jarink : Hi Mate, to answer your query about my informing Dean of the situation, I'm not a member of 'Flying Legends', therefore my making Dean or 'DK' directly aware of the situation isnt something I can do at present, I'm actually relying on the fact that i know they both visit Ubi Forums on occasion and perhaps they will stumble across this issue at some point & any accusation brought to their attention can & will be looked into at their leisure and with discretion, any steps they feel are warranted to counter the 'Intellectual Copyright' issues can be actioned in accordance with their sites rulings & policies, I cant ask them to do any more than I would anyone else....if you are a member at Flying Legends, perhaps it may be be prudent for you to mention this issue if they are not already aware of it, your help in this matter would be appreciated... Oh & thanks for pointing out to 'General Kalle' the finer points with regard to the issues

Just a comment on ME109Fan,: he is fully aware of 'Skinners Etiquette' etc, he knows right from wrong, hes 14 years of age not 5 & 3 quarters, he has no defence, no excuses, nor get out clauses for simpletons, this boy even at such a young age is a compulsive liar & blag artist, if he stuck a knife in someone at his age, hed be in a cell, he knows that, his carry on is sticking a virtual knife in every skinner & template makers back,he disrespects us all by foolishly assuming were all to thick to see through his blatant 'Borrowing' to put it mildly?
What really ****es me off, i took this boy 'under my wing' so to speak,as I have other folk in attempts to help and further the talent I see,I've helped him in numerous ways with regard to skinning, photoshop & screeny art, given him templates no one else has ever had access to and this is how he carries on?

He has no shame & no respect for those that would try to help him, never mind anyone else, this boy at one point brought my name and honesty into question in attempts to smoke screen his own deceit, which may I add resulted in my removing all my work, skins, templates, screenart, decals etc from M4T....I dont take to kindly to being called a liar or a cheat and I care even less for folk that would believe the ramblings of known liar & deciever above that of someone who has offered & shared a great deal with the community and has no reason to lie or pretend.....this whole situation really has me considering completely throwing the towel in...Banging my head on broken glass is starting to leave unsightly marks on my forehead Regards

I see, that kind of explains the unusual behavior when I was looking for Leadspitters P-51 template. The person in question forwarded it to me via PM but asked me not to share it with anyone.

I always wondered what on earth would be the reason for that.
