Yes, I've been cleaning up some long-neglected projects...
This project involves two more skinpacks for the 380th Bomb Group, one of the most unheralded Bomb Groups in WWII. The 380BG was tasked with bombardment duties covering the entire western half of the South West Pacific area...by themselves. From May 1943 until February 1945, they served under operational control of the RAAF, operating out of airfields near Darwin. Their targets ranged from Papua New Guinea all the way to Borneo. Later, they joined other 5th AF bomber groups in the Philipines for that campaign and in preparation for the eventual invasion of Japan. The 380th BG went through several different styles of squadron markings. Starting with the "1/4 tail" markings, they later used "Flying Circus" markings after the move to the Philipines. Some planes used a combination of the old and new markings. Near the end of the war, the group switched to the "King of the Heavies" tail insignia with different colored tail stripes indicating the squadron. On many planes, these stripes did not get painted on until after the cessation of hostilities. Pack #2 has 12 more Bare Metal Liberators... pack #3 contains 12 camouflaged B-24s from the early action. (Even though several of these planes were B-24D's, they were some of the first B-24s to be field modified with a nose turret.) You can get these skins at Flying Legends! |
