From the void.

I searched for a pre-made thread about skins, I couldn't find it.

No lets see yours.

Being British is about driving in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian beer, then grabbing an Indian curry or a Turkish kebab on the way home, to sit on Swedish furniture and watch American shows on a Japanese TV.

Really nice... but take your time put more effort in the skin, make it perfect (with your capability).
I'm fairly sure you can do much better.

My first and only template was for P-38 I made 5-6 skins for it and I put a lot of time and effort in that... had almost no experience with Photoshop before that. Since I fairly often see you skinning stuff, I have no doubt that you can do really good skins but you need more time and patience with the template.

What you produced here with Avia is more than promising... so keep up the good work! Thumbs Up

If you did this from the void, then you are certainly improving. Now, let's see if you can take things up another notch or two.

You are definitely getting better. Keep going, trying new things. I gave up after about four hours and never produced anything remotely worthwhile.

I played around with it too. Most have since been deleted from the hd. This is one of the quickie projects I never got around to finishing...and deleted.

good work Smile pretty hard to do much better working with the void, well done !!!!

as others said the next step is to move "beyond the void" ... ( sounds like a Star Trek film title huh)

Here is a very simple trick to try to demonstrate what you can achieve with minimal extra work

- select a few of the panel lines near the front of the fuselage on one side
- copy the selection and paste it as a new layer lined up with the lines on the void we will call it layer "A"
- duplicate this new layer creating a second new layer above the previous one we will call this layer "B"

at this point you should have three layers with the panel lines all lined up one directly above the other

- set opacity on "B" to 50% and move the layer one pixel up and one pixel forward
- invert "A" so the lines are white and move the layer one pixel down and one pixel backwards (leave opacity at 100%)
- merge "A" with "B"
- reduce opacity of merged layers to 50%

all going well you should end up with a faint light grey line below and behind the existing void panel line and an even fainter light grey line above and forward of the existing void panel line -- this will add depth to the panel marking

Save it with bright and load it into the game and compare the newly modified part of the panels with the original from void and see what you think !!!

Ha... nice skins Cool .

I myself got into the skinning world albeit briefly, made the few P-38 skins... all historical.
Never had the thing for custom skins... the biggest step I could take in that direction is to make a generic skin Smile .

Anyway...

Among few. Typing

Historical skins is the way to go, at least in my opinion.
The skin above is based on a plane being restored in Japan.

This one is based on a wreck:

Not a big fan of those skins that look like your local graffiti artist had a go at it.

Only bummer since I lost my photoshop, haven´t done any skinning since.
