It's probably been asked and answered here many times before. I got 'IL2 COMPLETE EDITION' and 'IL2 STURMOVIK 1946'. It looks like '1946' is all of the previous editions combined? If this is true, can I 'transfer' my files from 'IL2 CE' into it and remove the 'IL2 CE' from my system?

Also, the updates are equally 'clear as mud', which would or do I need? Please, if you kindly respond, be specific about which to use and if required with which program. The 'lingo' for these games has as many iterations as the number of P51's available for download!

Like I said, I'm a newbee, that's my fault. But I'll get up to speed sooner or later! Thanks for any help that you could provide!

46 basic is version 4.07, you then need 4.08 and there is a 4.09 beta should you want it. Most online is still 4.08 i believe and theres only a few new maps added.

I don't know what you mean by transferring files, which ones did you mean?

Hang around and somone more knowledgable will help you. Also see Bearcats 'nuggets guide', its a sticky at the top of the general discussion. You will probably get more help in te community help section when it comes to updates ect

As this is the "Paint schemes forum"; I guess you mean skins.

yes , you can copy "Paint Schemes" folder across to '46. . you might want to also transfer "Missions" and "user" folder . That will ensure any campaigns in progress are transferred + your personal pilot profile(s) key settings etc.

"config.ini" is also transferrable (joystick settings , graphic preferences etc.

Suggest you backup the files and folders you're replacing before doing anything.

Terrific, thank you, yes I should have been more specific. But its good to know that I don't have to reload all of the skins that I've installed!

But, the question remains, can 'IL2 1946' replace the game I already have, 'IL2 Complete Edition'?

il2 46 is ALL of the previous games, then some I would just install 46 copy the paintschemes and then uninstall CE.
