Gents, this is a personal request as I'd like to make an image for a couple of pilots who flew in Murmansk, Russia in 1941.

The first Hurricane was flown by Number 81 Squadron and the last surviving pilot is Eric Carter.

The aircraft he flew was FH-41

The plane would have been marked like this image:

http://81squadron.com/Russia%2016.png

except different letters and numbers of-course!

The second Hurricane was flown by Tim Elkington and that was GO-31. He flew with 134 Squadron.

In this link:

http://81squadron.com/WW%202.htm

you can see his Hurricane in the second row of pictures marked "Hurricane in Vaenga".

Notice the GO is after the Roundel on the Starboard side, so 31 would have been before it.

This image shows how the markings would look on the Port side;

This would be relevant to both aircraft?

Would anyone have the time to make this request?

Thanks for reading, MP.

Hi m8!

I could do it, but my Hurricane template is horribly out of date. Kristorf would probably beat me to it, anyway.

I have updated my Hurricane templates (B and C), but I'm bound up in other work at the moment. If you drop me your e-mail address, I'll send you the relevant templates.

Have a look here:

http://www.canons-skins.com/hurricane/hurri_vvs.htm

I've skinned FE-53 (which I know isn't the one you want..) but I've also skinned GO-31 (although my sources state the pilot was Sgt Kirvan.

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply.

WOW! What a great page of skins that is!

Now, GO-31 I'm told by the pilot was flown by Tim Elkington, who is very much alive, and very much remembers flying it! lol!

Here's a message he sent me yesterday:

"GQ + a letter was the UK code for 134. But in Russia we were G+letter+number. I was GO (because I always had O) - with a number - 31. As in the 2nd photo? But I flew off the Carrier in GV-25.

Tim"

He is my source for the information and if you like, I could pass you some contact details?

Would you have time to create Eric Carter's Hurricane (FH-41), using the template you have for the Murmansk Hurricanes?

Really hope so, cheers, MP.

Gents, thanks for all your help, I am sure the two Pilots will enjoy seeing their aircraft take to the air once-more!

Chris, The artwork above has a code for FH-41. Featured on Joe's skin as well.

Whether it's accurate, who knows? But there is a code, at least.

I'd be shocked if any veteran could remember the serial code for GO-31

That code is correct. It's clearly visible on the photo I have of FH-41.
