Whenever I pull up NN Avirex's fine bare metal templates of the P-39 or P-40, I can see them fine in photoshop 7.0, and I can work on them just fine. But when I save my work using Bright, the resulting bmp skin file is a 1024x1024 pallet of gray jibberish.

I do get an error when opening these templates saying that some fonts are missing, but the template opens fine and I can add layers and paint as usual

Using Bright to save bare metal templates by other artists into skins work just fine on my PC, so I am wondering what I am doing wrong with these NN Avirex versions. Any help appreciated.

What result do you get if you ignore bright and just save it as an indexed bmp with no dithering ?

I can save as an indexed 8-bit bmp, index color, without dithering and without forcing BxW (both selected as NONE).

But not within Bright... ?

I suspect one particular layer is causing the issue. You might need to do some detective work.

Two possible things to try to track down the problem -

- rasterize and merge down all the layers to a single layer and put it through bright that way and see what happens

- create a temporary file and keep deleting layers one or two at a time and see if deleting one particular layer or set of layers fixes the bright problem

I already have had this kind of issue and haven't found a simple way to get it fixed.
Merging layer is VERY dangerous I already have ruined personnal template with this way of processing...
I have found another way to create the bmp: once your template is ready to generate the skin, use File---> Save for Web, select JPEG maximum quality and save. Open the JPEG generated and export it with bright plugg-in. Et voilà it's done! Wink

Do I have to delete layers, or is it enough to de-select layers? I've already done this, deselecting all layers except the background and the bare metal layer, and Bright still has a problem processing it.

If I have to delete layers instead, I will.

I will also try Tromplamort's suggestion.

You should just be able to deselect layers.
