The Shokaku/Zuikaku type can be a good fake for the G.Zeppelin, in this case use the Generic japanese Carrier. Of course the Tirpitz can play the role of a "H" class Battleship and the Niobe can be a good Task Force escort. The Russian DD type Tashkent is very similar to the class Z German DDs, as is the Type 7. I agree about the Kirov playing the role of a German Light Cruiser, if not the Koenigsberg maybe the projected Spah Kreutzer type from Plan Z. About a panzerschiffe like the Adm. Scheer, I really do not see its utility with the German Task force in the Pacific, as it was capable of only 26 knots, too slow to stay with the other ships, all able of 30+ knots...Maybe the Indianapolis can be a good fake for a Admiral Hipper/Prinz Eugen heavy Cruiser? Carry On! |

Our focus for the first release is 41/42 and therefor the Task Force is quite right, IMO.

Have we come back to the starting page of the thread?
My choice for the GZ is the Shokaku, as well as the Tirpitz for H-Class, itsself or Bismarck battleships. More complicated are the Battlecruisers of Z-Plan, as they are almost identical to Kirov in looks but significantly larger (BC:256m/K:191m). Same goes for Indianapolis (186m). The Tirpitz could be used for them, but also possible fakes are the british battleships or the two japanese/american standards. Kirov and -maybe- Indianapolis are most suitable fakes for the light cruisers of Z-Plan (M-Class/183m/35kn), as well as heavy cruisers Admiral Hipper (205m/32kn), Prinz Eugen (212m/33kn) and Lützow (210m/32kn), the light cruisers Königsberg (174m/32kn), Köln (174m/32kn), Leipzig (177m/32kn) and Nürnberg (181m/32kn), or if you like even the Panzerships Deutschland/Lützow and Admiral Scheer (186m/28kn). For early/late war german destroyers I recommend the two russian Type 7 ships. Carrier Graf Zeppelin Battleship Tirpitz Battleship Z-Plan (H-Class) Battlecruiser Z-Plan (O-Class) Panzership Z-Plan (P-Class) (Light) Cruiser Z-Plan (M-Class) Panzership Admiral Scheer Heavy Cruiser Admiral hipper Light Cruiser Königsberg reference: http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/index.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirov_class_cruiser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Indianapolis_%28CA-35%29 Fly Friendly |

How hard is it really to land a 109 on a carrier? Can it be done effectively and routinely

Shure thing.
I will post a track in a few minutes. You have to be familiar with the 109 beforehand of course, but the campaign will make shure of that EDIT Here it is http://rs215.rapidshare.com/files/48065142/Me109Tcarrierhighseas.trk Note that this was in very poor weather. The carrier moves with 60 km/h; just for tolerances because of the strong turbulences. In good or decent weather 45 or 50 km/h are sufficient. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kennst du, Kind, meinen Zorn? Hi,
I was trying a similar thing for Regia Marina, a"what if" with the Carrier Aquila being completed before tha war start, and chose the plane complement, fighter my hacked Re2001(Mig3_AM38) bomber the Faked Breda 65Navale(R 10),problem is, none of those can be landed on a carrier, too short (I chose the Illustrious since Aquila would have been very similar when completed) nor by me and neither by tha AI....they will fall overboard all the times, and in the track i just downloaded,in fact Hunin Munin takes off,I can do that easily with the Mig3,but then plunge into the sea,I haven't still seen a landing.... |
