Step 1: Put up Paint Program Step 2: Load the the File of that plane and copy void (if u havent) Step 3: Use paint Bucket, Etc. Info: u cant add weathered marks or anything but its an easy way for begginers
While that's certainly a quick way of making something, I think it's much better in the long run (for someone actually interested in skinning) to download a template, load it up in GIMP, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or other program of choice and start 'painting' that way.

It really isn't as hard as it seems.
Absolutely true. I learnt more about PSP/Photoshop in my first week of skinning from a template than I had in the 3 years prior to getting IL2 and my first attempt at re-painting a void.
The voids are always a good starting point if you have the "remove white" and "remove black" plug ins and start building layers.
It still surprises me how many people think you need to have the remove white plug in or whatever in order to make a good use out of a void. Now I can see why people like layered templates, they are nice, often adding some realism and detail over the voids, but as long as your paint layers are set to "Multiply" in photoshop, it will layer on top of the void correctly, alllowing the shading of rivets, panels, and bolts to come through correctly, just flatten them all down when your done!
