It seems the blue paint layer is above the lines and rivets layer, so that the blue is presented as a flat colour.

Hi Friendly_flyer and thanks for replying! Actually, it's below the rivets and lines, but in the photo you can't really see them. Here's a more close-up photo of the nose:

Ah, here we go! (I love the composition of the first picture BTW).
Looking at it up close, I think I would have increased the white lines layer a bit. The blue paint obscure Jarinks very nice dark layer a bit too much, making the painted area look less "platy" than the the rest. Another possible trick would be to chip the blue nose ever so slightly along the edges of the plates, to make them stand out a bit more. Here's an example of whet I mean. Look at the way the 3 have bee worn over the ribbing on the tailfin.
