This is a known bug. Just go into Options\Control Options and hit the "Defaults" button. This will set the controls back to default. Your mouse will work and you can then set up custom controls as needed. |

Why is it that I cannot select Profiles with 1.4? I did a fresh install and all patches in proper order...
When I select my "Singleplayer" profile it says YOU MUST RESTART...etc, which I do. Then when I restart I'm back at default. If it weren't for multiplayer, this patch would not be installed.. |

Hi,
I got the DVD version 1.0, applied Patch 1.1 and then installed the 1.4 cumulative. Now the ragdoll physics aren't working! Any hints would be great. (Well, actually I played around a litte - manually added some language packs, files, movies, some mods. But I didn't mess up the main files, so that can't be the matter.) Besides, do I really need 1.3 or higher if I'd only play SP? All these patches are MP only, aren't they? |

You only need 1.3 for single player.

Thanks a lot.
I tried to uninstall P1.4, but no chance. So i reinstalled the whole game + P1.1 + P1.3 and it's fine now. So if there's no need for 1.31 or newer patches for single player, I'll let the game as it is now. |

You shouldnt have used the 1.1 at all, everything in it is included or replaced by 1.3.
For Single player the only reason you would need patches 1.31 and 1.33 are if you have an ATI graphics card; SM3.0 compatability was added in 1.3... <font color="#ffff00"><i><b>CuZ</b></i></font> <a href="http://www.obsidianedge.net/"><font color="#990000"><b>Obsidian Edge 2</b></font></a> - <a href="http://www.obsidianedge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=9261#9261"><font color="#cc6600">OE2 Media Hub: All your OE2 Media Updates, interviews etc...</font></a> <font color="#336600"><i><b>Obsidian Edge 2 </font>- <font color="#336600">Tactical Realism Modification for Crysis and CryEngineTM2</b></i></font> |

I've had this game for the longest time and even when I had a so-so system, I still enjoyed the maps, jungles, bad-guy banter, and Jacks 'whut-the-heck-am-i-doing-here!' humor.
With a more recent set-up, decent video card, and new patch, I still enjoy playing it after having a bad day! Though not all of ubi's stuff has been on par with this one (can you say "R6LD"??)It's this level of quality and fun that maintains me as a loyal ubi fan. |

I am very upset about something.
Discontinued support for 64 bit FC despite the big hubbub about working in conjunction with AMD for a 64 bit version with enhanced textures and whatnot. I am currently using the ad-supported 1.4 version, but this goes for the standard 1.4 as well. Btw, keep in mind that support for mods is included in the ad version. If there is reason to update the 64 bit version to 1.4, there is reason to implement the ad code into 64 bit as well. The 64 bit patch from amd-downloads only works for version 1.32. This pisses me off. I highly doubt that the difference between 1.32 and 1.4 is significant enough to require massive recoding of anything. They shouldn't even bother to release a 64-bit edtion if they don't actually intend to treat it as a worthwhile product. And since I'm blowing off steam, WinXP Pro X64 is a great version of XP with basically 98.999% compatability for 32-bit and pretty much runs anything except Win95 auto-run programs. Which are bypassable in the first place. 64-bit is completely superior in every way (try multi-scene anti-aliasing getting performance better than comparable multiplier 32-bit full-scene anti-aliasing could EVER get. Meaning 4x FSAA runs as fast as a 500 pound man through mollasses compared to 4x MSAA 64-bit). I will never go back to 32 bit. Ever. Even 32 bit programs run faster because Windows is being handled in full 64-bit. I don't care what anyone says, I was using NTFS (a file system where you get the same performance when your hard drive is full as when its empty) before this version. -Asphyxium |

WARNING:
Thanks to Hervig it has come to my attention that if you try to enable Far Cry multiplayer in the ad version with a valid CD key you may get kicked/banned for having different sized data files (due to the ads). I don't know if it's even possible to do this, but I thought I should warn you all. -Asphyxium |

As far as I know 1.4 doens't contain any significant stuff with regard to the singleplayer part. Same goes for patches 1.31, 1.32 and 1.33. Just install the game and run patch 1.3 which was the latest relevant patch for singleplayer (as far as I can remember). Then enjoy your free Far Cry 64 bit experience and let us know how it was -=F&B=- Achilles |

Why no mention of "automatic doors" in patch1.4. The doors open when you get near them which i found very irritating & dangerous, in patch1.4 you have to click to open them.

Ok I got the "mouse doesn't work" problem sorted after installing FC and 1.4 cumulative on a clean hard drive.
And I did notice that now you seem to have to 'use" any door to get it open in SP. [I'm not into the MP game.] I'll have to play through some more to get a better feel for how I like that. Has anyone else noticed in singleplayer that now the mercs seem to be able to see [and shoot] you through the walls of the huts in the camps? [OK, I didn't wade through all 23 pages in this thread to see if this has been discussed.] This is especially noticeable when it's a sniper or chopper nailing you. I was just playing through the first big camp in Pier and it is undoubted that they are nailing me, one shot, from outside where there is no direct line of sight. The rocket gunner was unloading on me as well. Anyone? |

I'll save you some wading since it is Christmas. Mercs being able to see/shoot you through certain materials (tents, bunkers) has been discussed to death - it is a 1.4 patch *boo boo* that was unintentionally added.
If you want to play SP and are not bothered about MP, then I would suggest you remove patch 1.4 and patch to 1.33. 1.4 was a MP patch - though it did have some unwanted effects on the SP game. |

OK, thx [again] TBag.
I'm tempted to try this "I modified the two updated lua files (canvas and sandbag) in materials folder to piercing_resistence = 7 and it seems to have fixed the problem. Possible anything greater than 0 would fix the problem." and see if I can keep 1.4 with that change. DocSeal's modified lua file seems to be no longer available [404 not found]. CuZtds_Lst_Stnd You should edit your initial post in this thread, listing the 1.4 changes, warning people about the [unintended] SP changes. This ought to save guys like me a lot of trouble, as I would probably not have installed it had I had that info. |
