An even bigger problem is the fact that it's only free in the US, I bet there are a lot of upset people in the rest of the world. Sad Eyes
An Australian Ubi forum member got so upset he went a bit over the top and felt the blow of a ban hammer as a result. Mean Happy

An unfortunate occurance... While I can understand his frustrations, that type of posting is not tollerated on this forum.
He will however be welcome back in 7 days...

Guys, I only got as far as queuing for the download, I'm not going to blow my whole DL budget for a month on a game I own 3x already Wink
Are there any readme files that come with the DL? Anything that indicates it is for SP only or USA only?

Please post any readme files it puts in the main directory here.

I've flagged this up to the CMs, but my initial feeling is that your issue is with Fileplanet Shadynot UBI...

"my initial feeling is that your issue is with Fileplanet not UBI..."
Very true, they should have mentioned the US limitation on their site.
Gamespot has been a source of problems too over the way it handled the Settlers 6 open beta, Ubi ended up taking the flack.
As for Grim, well........I know how he likes to mod bait in the HoMM forums, daring Alder to punish him, he's a bit cheeky to me as well over at my place. A week won't hurt him, it'll give him time to calm down.

1. It's not only free in the US, just put your username's country to the US and it should work no doubt.

2. Someone from Ubisoft respond, we need cd keys, you need to provide them!

Yea I am also unable to play online. It would have been helpful if you had said singleplayer only. But it doesn't look like were going to get any support on the ad supported version of farcry.

I really think it's single-player only. I mean, look at the other 2 games that are free: Rayman Raving Rabbids and PoP: Sands of Time are also just single-player games.

Wait a minute; there are 4 great (well, maybe RRR isn't great, but....) free, full games available to download, and you're still complaining? They're FREE! FREE!

BTW, if you're really craving multiplayer, download the original Ghost Recon, which you can play online without a CD-key or anything. You can download it at gamershell.com

Yes, very clever to give free games for only one market area, when rest of the world can also download it without warning about limitation.... seems that Ubi is going to do big mistake with these titles.... World is very small in these times, internet communities are worldwide, not only US...
Pihi,
Teacher and gamer, now quite upset

Dont forget its the weekend folks, the community managers dont work weekends, you could try the UBI or fileplanet tech support lines?

Ive lodged queries with the CMs regarding both the US only issue and the Online play.

Difficult to see how you can play online without the key, the whole online system is based on individually allocated ones...

I'll let you know if I get any response.

Something to keep in mind Cuz when you ask.

You'd also see also all those phaez users back that can just simply download the free version and get a cdkey and have a different GUI. At the moment, the only thing that puts some off from coming back is they have to buy the game again. If UBI gives away free keys, kiss any PBBans data you have good bye.

You could be opening up the floodgate for all those prats again.

Some site tells me that i'd get the CD-Key for FarCry right after registering the Game at ubi.com. Didn't get one though. Wonder if we'll get CD-Keys today. Or at least an info related to the issue.

the us release,is due to the fact that the ad companies that run the ads for the game are attacking an americain market, in other words they have no intention of paying for ads that are not part of thier market target, and most likely to pay ubi based on their registered hits

As for the cd key i havent heard back from customer support but the last time i spoke to someone there they said the devs dont read the forum and have no clue whats posted here, this forum is just to blowoff steam lol, contact customer service..... for service Big Grin
