I liked the game till I got to the freighter! No matter what I do I can't win the battle! If I swim to the island I loose my armor and half my health. If I go to the front of ship and no better. I'm reaching the point of putting the game away. Some help!
Dude, there's a buggy you can drive down where that little wrecked boat is...just make sure u jump out of the freighter as soon as u place the bomb, swim forward and no health will be taken..then jump into the buggy, press shift to control the gun, and blow his *** away
ya swim to shore....except once i got there i used the trees for cover and i used all my roackets and finished the job with a P90

you can beat him from the bow of the ship. crouch down, especially when he's firing at you. in between his bursts of fire, you have a couple of seconds to get off a rocket round. you probably need to hit him about 8 times (give or take) to do enough damage for him to fly away. you are fighting time with the sinking of the ship but if you time and aim your shots carefully, you will eventually beat him. Make sure you start with full armor and health and a full load of rockets. just remember...shoot, duck, and shoot again.
it just sucks to get this far and not be able to get past crowe, been trying for 2 days, I thinke you made crowe unrealistic tough he is the toughest guy to kill (so far), I was waiting to going try the whole series of crytec but I think they are a little to tough for the average person
Worry not. If you killed Crow in Freighter, then the game's storyline ends. You get to blow him away in River, and he's not so tough. Your only objective in Freighter is to scare him off. If you binoc him as he leaves, the chopper goes down and he bails.
One more vote for bow of the ship here, but with slightly different methods than I've used previously.
I now don't crouch but rather stay standing and lean around the mast. Before I used to use the square structure by the mast to crouch behind but moving while crouched is too slow.
I usually can take down the chopper with one full rocket launcher, but I now drop the full one I bring onto the ship by that square structure then get the one in the wheelhouse in case my aim or timing is off.
Other than that I'm patient and wait for the chopper to come to me before firing and stay out of sight until it's close and hovers somewhat stationary.
Your best bet is to time it so you are leaning around the mast just enough to see the tail end of the chopper so you can take your time and get off a good shot without being seen and causing the chopper to move.
It appears to me that when you come in close eye contact with Crowe and he sees you shooting at them he often yells at the pilot to move to a different vantage point, mainly up. This puts the chopper farther away and harder to hide from and hit. Every shot you waste further exacerbates the problem of sinking slowly and running out of ammo.
Six Did you ever see the post from a guy who was getting totally waxed by the chopper, and his wife wanted a try. She went to the bow mast, waited for the chopper, then popped smoke and fired away. She was sucessful on her first try. He was humbled by the whole experience. I had no luck with that manuever, by the way.

LOL, that's hilarious, wife beats the **** out of husband at Far Cry and he never games again!
Seriously though, I'm not sure if you meant dropping smoke or the mast technigue itself but many have found the mast to be quite effective if done right.
I've never used smoke, it actually didn't occur to me to even try it. Seems once you learn how to use the mast it would just make it harder to see more than help though.
