it was a great game, but i should of rented it rather than buying it it ended to soon

Hi there I am stuck in the black rock and cannot see any way out of it.
Jack and Kate are being held at gunpoint by Tom and an other. If I shoot anyone game over, if I shoot the dynamite game over and if I leave with or without the compass game over. I am well and truly stuck. Please help if you can |

Ask yourself who gets killed by the dynamite and where you should stand to prevent that from happening. |

I have tried this and wherever I stand in front of Kate it still manages to kill her as when you make the shot it is predetermined to kill her
