Ah yes, the dreaded Top Secret mission. The most frustrating, infuriating, difficult mission by far of the entire campaign. This one requires two ingredients to pass, lots of time and lots of patience (unless you are a lot more skilled than me). I finally got through it over a 2 to 3 day period of playing the game on and off and leaving the game on during that time so I could remain at the present checkpoint and not have to start the mission over again. I used the default FW190a without upgrading it but in hindsight maybe I should have gone to arcade mode and upgraded my plane before starting. You will need plenty of repetitions through the different canyon runs just to learn the path through. Sometimes you have to go over things, sometimes under and sometimes find small passageways that aren't obvious. I remember on I believe the third canyon run towards the end that I almost threw my controller across the room because I kept slamming into the top of a mountain ridge after a sharp left turn only to finally figure that WAY at the base there is a small passageway you have to fly down to and through. You will need to go as fast as possible through the straightways of the canyon runs and then time your braking to navigate the sharp turns to beat the clock on those. By the time I finished all the segments of the mission I think I only graded out as a one star pilot. Now, having seen everything, I would like to go back and get a 3 star veteran ranking on that one, but I seriously doubt I could ever do any better without spending a LOT of effort on it. Another headache is that I use the nunchuk sensitive control and on that mission if you ever get just the least little bit of slop in the control response to your hand tilt motions you are dead. That seemed to happen to me at certain times making my runs. One thing about it, if you get through this one, ALL the other missions appear to be a piece of cake or at least they did to me.

ptflyer64, I can't thank you enough for your response to the New Georgia posts. your instruction has kept me from tossing my nunchuk and remote through the tv. I finally completed the objective after months of trying. drove me absolutely nuts. I'll look for more of your posts if I get into another tight spot while finishing the campaign. thanks again. quote: In the New Georgia Mission, I found it best to fly as fast as possible to the Island taking out as many tanks and ground targets as possible until the Jap bomber squadron comes in to attack the 172nd. Once this happens the best thing is to leave the ground targets alone and basically fly right over the 172nd position to protect them blowing all the bombers out of the sky. Try not to chase off after any bombers leaving the troops unprotected. The 169th should be able to hold out long enough for you to finish off protecting the 172nd. Also, I had my best results on this mission with the Beaufighter. Its slow enough to stay in a small area for troop protection and has LOTS of firepower. Anyway, that's my advice.

how do you find the tanks? IN my game they don't show up on the radar until the 172 is almost decimated. I've looked around and can't find them until there are orders given to attack the tanks. thn it shows up on the radar. aslo, the beaufighter is not an option for me. I can only shoose betwen the dauntless and um...some other plane...but thats it. i am playing this game on a Wii console. thanks quote: In the New Georgia Mission, I found it best to fly as fast as possible to the Island taking out as many tanks and ground targets as possible until the Jap bomber squadron comes in to attack the 172nd. to people who can't get the beaufighter:
it's the 2nd plane you unlock in the desert rats mission, along with the f40 and i think you need **** or ace (*****) rating to unlock both the planes.
