Regarding the router issue, you cannot connect to an online server unless that server is on a public IP or it has some ports forwarded by the NAT server (you will note the value 999 in the Latency field; if this stays 999 it means that it cannot directly connect to the server).

The ports are: 20001 (used by the ping), 20005, 20050, 20080 and 20100 (all UDP, except 20100, wich is TCP).

The 20005 port is used by the lan game finder system, the others are used to connect and to effectively play the game.

So, in order to accept online connections, the server must have these ports open and be on a public IP (or have these ports forwarded to it).

We are already making changes so that you can see all the games that are started. We will try to see what othe rchanges we can do so the online experience gets better.
Thx.

thank you for the prompt reply. i think i might not have been to clear or asked this right....... what i meant - people with routers connecting to online games (which most likely will be set as a public ip or have the appropriate ports set as open) for router based people to see and connect. i dont think people would want to HAVE to change THEIR OWN router settings to connect to and play online. if its a privately hosted game that is one thing....if its a public ip (as in regarding a server to connect to) would there be a difference or will the new patch handle all of this ?

sorry for the mix up in meaning. hopefully you can see what i meant.

thank you for your time

I managed to get onto a game with Belfast Killer last night and it really was amazing!

I'd also like to add that I was playing from behind a router and had no problems

As long as you know there is a game about to start you can get in on it.

If you don't know there is a game about to start, your chances of playing are low to zero.

On the game we were playing last night, there was room for up to 16 people, but once we began (with 3 people) the game vanished off teh list so nobody can join!

I think the real issue with the online gaming is not routers. I think it is that the online game finder is still not functioning properly and as such nobody is going on line!

My recommendation? Look at how other games implement a multiplayer option....please!!! Online makes the game really great

once the joy sticks are sorted we will get more playing.
we realy need to see a game list some sort of lobby so we can chat and organize a match and jump into a game.
we had a good game last night just the 3 of us but it should beable to let more join during game play that would realy make this game a winner

the game will soon display all the online matches. that way you will be able to see how many games are in progress etc.

The Sleep is right (thank you fo ryour support, sire) - with a router you can join but you can't host a game.
The patch is comming up soon. We're on it.
Thx.

How do you open ports 20001-20004(UDP), 20050(UDP), 20080(UDP), 20100(TCP)?

You open ports by going into your firewall settings. Simply diabling a firewall won't do it. The ports are still closed. So if you have more than one firewall, with one disabled you still have to go into its settings and adjust.
