re: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro (v1.02)

It 'works' when you remap the controls through the game settings, but it has a dead zone of about 50% that gives it an unyieldy digital feel, especially since it jumps to a moderate turn when you leave the dead zone.

I've tried all the different settings in logitech's configuration software, but they make no difference. unloading logitech's software also makes no difference.

Beautiful game though. When's the next patch due?

edit:

I've uninstalled and reinstalled and patched to 1.01 only. The controls seem to have a tiny deadzone now, but the throttle isn't recognized.

I can live with using the keyboard for the throttle if it gves me the accuracy to actually shoot planes down. Are there any gameplay fixes in 1.02 (seems to be just the joystick issue) or can i play on in 1.01?

You might as well get used to these kinds of problems people.Ubi-sh** isn't the only company which pushes out products before they are ready. It's all about making a certain return on investment(money) by a certain promised date to the investors. The consumers don't count as much because a high percentage of people don't bother returning a sh*t game and they have no real recourse but to wait for patches.

Just played Blazing Angels on an Xbox360 and afterwards on a pc (with both patches, Pentium M 1.86GHz, 1GB, ATI X800XT) I noted 2 huge differences;

1. The game uses 100% CPU load even with all eyecandy turned off at lowest resolution.
This causes the audio to stutter. (other 'heavy' games never use 100% CPU)

2. The controller response is much, much and much worse than the Xbox.
This makes it much more difficult to complete missions (controll the plane to shoot other planes, drop bombs, etc.)

On the Xbox all goes fluidly making the game very good to play and enjoyable.
On the PC it's a nightmare due to the audio and bad controls.

2 bad for the PC users and seems like Ubi isn't giong to do anything about it.

Turn Left - slider up
Turn Right - slider down
Pitch up - button 13
Pitch down - button 14
Primary fire - button 1
Secondary fire- button 2
Closest threat- button 3
Next objective- button 4
Landing gear - button 6
Roll right - Z axis right
Roll left - Z axis left
Speed up - button 15
Slow down - button 16

the rest of the options on the list don't apply to my joystick as it only has 7 buttons. I know that some of the options seem odd, such as slider up/down for turning, but it makes the joystick work properly, so I went with it.

hope this helps

I have the Same Joystick, But every time I try to map an Axis or Slider, it just shows up as "Button 15" Any thoughts?

Have you checked the throttle/slider whatever is centered? If you try to remap without it/them centered that get chosen as your remap before you can say poot.

I have found to map the joystick axis' you must have the Joystick fully engauged in that axis, press to map the axis and then release it back to center. It will then map correctly.

I cannot load Blazing Angles, windows keeps telling me
'Autorun.exe is not a valid Win32 application'
or 'setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application'
I am running XP with SP2, any suggestions please. I have also tried to run it on RC1 Vista but it causes Vista to crash

Do UbiSoft ever intend to address this problem? The posts on this forum are deafening as to the issue of joystick controller interface and sensitivity. Seems like most people are waiting for a new patch before they reinstall the game. I'm one of them. Please Ubi just fix the controller interface and the stick sensitivity and you have real awesome game on your hands. Seems like nobody is playing online at all.

Ubi where is your customer support gone. You are still patching and updating FB-AEP-PF?.so why not the same diligence with BA? Please boys it?s been months now and seems like you are deaf to your own child. Obviously this has become an un-favoured step-child to you. Not even a resolution from Ubi regarding support. Nothing but silence.

Very disappointed that UbiSoft have distributed a game which does not work with joysticks (I have read all the forum entries, tried all the fixes, downloaded both patches, retried the fixes, all to no avail).

I have always recommended UbiSoft flight games to my mates, never again. Off to get my refund tomorrow morning.

I have uninstalled IL2 Sturmovick too - I do not think I can face running it again after this BIG disappointment - I have a sick feeling in my stomach just from contemplating it. I feel really ripped off and let down by my favourite software house.

Where are the apologies from the developers for letting their fans down? The email replies posted on the forum appear to blame the purchasers for the faults in the game.

Should they not withdraw this game from sale until they can develop a properly working version - or at least get stickers put on the packaging warning people that the game does not work with joysticks?

Amazing, the game is still for sale in the shops and UBISOFT KNOW it does not work!

Popped back to the forums in the hope that they had done something to help us ripped off customers...

yeah no kidding I beat this game with mouse and keyboard and I can do ok in online (if i can find a game lol)

NetWarrior1 I'm with you... (AceMike99 and Cold_Air) You guys are morons. When you buy a sim i expect to play it like it should be played, with a joystick, not a mouse, not a keyboard. It should work, Don't you understand (FLYING A PLANE, JOYSTICK) isn't that suppose to go together.
That like using a joystick to play poker.

UBI MESSED UP BIG TIME, The word is that they can't get the patch right cause there is no way to fix all joysticks using a patch, they have to create a exspansion disk to correct the problem, or reprogram the whole game, they wont do that, Its to cost worthy.

So the point is, i won't be fixed.

EVERYONE LISTEN UP...

IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET YOUR MONEY WORTH, WHEN THE NEXT UBI GAME COMES OUT, DON'T BY IT.SIMPLE AS THAT.

BELIEVE ME THAT WILL PUT A DENT IN THE INCOME.
OH, I TRADED MINE IN FOR $20, LOL.....ITS A COASTER TO ME....

You need to remap your slider, the game thinks the slider is the roll buttons as opposed to the throttle. try placing your throttle in the nutural position.
