GoodKArma's solution beats the **** outta mine but I passed this mission on the eighth try or so by letting go of the controls for a few moments to let the plane do it's thing so I could pinpoint it's repetitive motion and ultimatly being able to counter the planes roll by shadowing the planes movements in reverse on the controller which enabled me to come in nice and straight for a smooth landing. I found this easiest to do when giving myself plenty of ground to cover before reaching the runway and flying somewhat low.

I've been a gamer for a long time, and most of the time I consider myself to be more than adept, but this game is frustrating the **** out of me! For me, it boils down to one thing. INCONSISTENCY! At any given time in a mission you'll know what's going on for a short bit, then all of a sudden you WON'T. The radio chatter is way more ANNOYING than helpful, and the STUPID wingmen aren't worth their weight in BULLETS as far as I'm concerned. I would have preferred to have been without them altogether, rather than them being so unhelpful. By the time you're even able to use them, you don't even really need them, and when you REALLY need them to do their required "area of expertise", THEY'RE FRIGGIN' USELESS! Now I'm even having trouble with the stupid game freezing after I've failed an objective. I'm a little more than disappointed in what could have been a great game. My advice to anyone thinking about buying this game is simply this....DON'T! You'd be better off dropping $60 on BUBBLE GUM!

I don't know about you guys, but I freakin' hate it when a game such as this starts out to be fairly good, with a moderate amount of added challenge as the first few missions progress along, and then all of a sudden you would think you were playing one of the HARDEST, MOST FRUSTRATING MISSIONS EVER IGNORANTLY CONCEIVED IN ANY GAME EVER, with no help from ANYONE or ANYTHING ELSE IN THE ENTIRE GAME! I'm sorry , but I believe in a game GRADUALLY increasing in difficulty as you go through it...not just dropping insane amounts of **** on you all at once and out of nowhere! I think Sony should watch out for game companies that develop these kinds of games that, for the most part, just make the Playstation 3 system look bad. They've had enough issues with shortages and such without one of the launch titles making things seem worse for those of us fortunate to have gotten a PS3 to begin with. For anyone thinking of buying Blazing Angels I give you this advice. Take your hard earned 60 bucks, go out with your friends, take a helicopter ride, go to the zoo...ANYTHING...just don't waste it on this game!

I play this on XBOX but PS3 is the same. Darned near impossible but it can be done. Talk about a flying brick. 1st . . . Survive the final wave of 4-5 zeros coming in. Yeah, Yeah, I know . . . "Little Pieces Everywhere". Fix your plane early and often and kill as many enemy fighters as you can while your buddies continue to attack. Continue to repair damage while remaining calm. After the Japanese air support is sent packing, now comes the toughest part, landing. It is just about impossible but it is in fact do-able. Come in from the end of the runway where the building partially blocks the runway entry because your hanger is on the other end where you will hopefully stop if all goes well. Get your gear down and circle once or twice to bleed off all of the airspeed you can before coming in. You can try a perpendicular approach with a sharp final bank if you are good enough (I wasn't). When you commit to landing, aim for the slight opening to the right of the building by coming in veyr slighly diagonally from right to the left. Slam her down like on a carrier, roll all, the way back on the throttle and stay back! Push down on the elevator too to create more drag also. You will have to weave back and force to bleed of all of the speed you can before you run out of runway. Have enough to do yet? Did I mention there is no "brake" . . . none. If you execute perfectly, you can come at a stop at the very end near the hanger and next to the P-40 on the left(I think its a P-40). It can be done! A dialog box will open telling you to press "X" to get into the bomber. Start, Fly out and torpedos away on the ships. It would have been nice if the game let you practice landing a little more before having you land on the carrier previously and landing this damaged wildcat-brick on a craterd, short and cluttered runway (the toughest). Gives you an appreciation of what Guadalcanal was like though. It was not fun. Don't tear your sticks off trying to stop on the runway! Have fun and scatter "Little Pieces Everywhere"

I followed the suggestions on this thread, but after numerous crashes, found what worked for me was to a) Get Frank to take on the Zekes and b)get oriented to fly along the beach towards the REAR of the runway (where you see the 4 oil tanks on the left handside as you approach the end of the runway. Make sure your gear is down and come in very SLOW, touching down as parallel as you can and let it coast all the way through the debris to the building at the end. If you are successful, the plane will come to a stop (finally).
I got past this checkpoint and got on the torpedo bomber, and took off for the first (I think it was 3 attempts) to sink the 2 cruisers and 3 destroyers, which is the next objective, but I wasn't able to reach the objective before the bar timer timed out on me.
Now, for some reason, I can't take off at the end of the runway,. The elevators on the torpedo bomber are not working anymore and it pitches down at the end of the runway and crashes each time.
Has anyone run into this "glitch"? And what was done to correct it?

I am guessing that you are using simulation control without motion sensing. the rudder malfunction in this setting makes it near impossible (kgenry you are a better man then I with much more patience) but what I did was switch to arcade motion and after you get hit by flack the controls are a little sluggish but your plane does not yaw to the right like crazy. This makes lining up on the runway much easier.
Dude, you just made my night! Switching to arcade mode calmed the plane down drastically and I was able to get it on the first try after switching. If someone pulled this off using simulation mode then I humbly bow down to their greater presence. Personally, I'd rather enjoy the game and not wind up cursing at the tv, punching my chair, and generally making enough noise to wake up my wife even though the door's closed. Wii's not perfect but it sure is fun. Thanks again!
