Strange FLASH STORY... A Word To The WIZE Pilot's
Pilot Slash,... I would like to note a problem I had... The first (many) times I run the "SPEED TEST" it worked fine for me fine... But, when I was doing a Update to My "FLASH PLAYER 9.0" I would get an error message... saying to reinstall FLASH...hmmmm... So I just reinstalled it... and it still didn't work...!!!??? Sooooooooo, then "I did what the error Message Said"...!!! I use the Link for the "Flash Uninstaller" in the error Message... Rebooted a couple of times before it said I had a Clean Uninstall.... Then I went back to the "Speed Test Link" and run it again... Then I run their Flash Reinstall Link, and Reinstalled "FLASH PLAYER"... That fixed it... then "SPEED TEST worked again... The WEIRD thing about this story, is that who would of thought that you would have to use Adobe's Flash Uninstaller before you Update there FLASH PLAYER...!!!??? Or you may not get a Proper UPDATE...!!! WHO NEW... NOT ME... Couldn't Adobe have Just Incorporated the Uninstaller in there UPDATED FLASH PLAYER...??? Sooooooooo, the unexpected thing that this Site does is tell you if your Flash Player is working properly... And how to FIX IT... If you get the Error Message... ~ A GOOD PLACE TO GO FOR A CHECK UP ~ PC Pitstop.... Run The Full Test... Just Click on the Key icon, then Click the Key Picture in the next screen to start... http://www.pcpitstop.com NOTE: Just double click on the YELLOW Flags if you have any after running the Test... NOTE: After running PC Pitstop the only problem they found was "TCP Receive Window size" was to low... I think you Pilot's will see the same Problem because the setting is set as a Default by XP... (I have Cable) ... So I followed their instructions Below to "Edit the Registry"... I did get a BOOST, and that made me Happy... This manual adjustment changes the TCP Receive Window size and is recommended only for cable modem or DSL users running Windows XP or Windows 2000. To adjust more settings, or if you are running Windows 98 or Windows Me, we suggest using a software application like PC Pitstop Optimize to make sure all settings are adjusted properly. To change your TCP Receive Window size: Launch window registry editor by clicking on Start | Run . Click in the Open dropdown box and type in regedit.exe then click OK . Back up your registry by selecting File | Export type in a meaningful file name, in the export range section select All and save to your hard drive. To restore your old registry you simply import this file. Next you need to create a new registry key. On the left side you need to go to the directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters Select Edit | New | DWORD Value . Rename the new registry key to TcpWindowSize. Modify the registry setting for TcpWindowSize by double clicking on the key. Change the Base Setting to Decimal. Enter the value 64240 and click OK, then exit RegEdit. For these settings to take effect you need to close all your open applications and reboot your system. |
