I have been playing tournament games since I bought CM11 a few months ago. I increased my rating to about 1500 and beat a higher ranked opponent yesterday. CM decreased my rating to ~1100 after that game!! I figured that maybe there is a bug in my version and attempted to install the 1.01 patch. I downloaded the patch and ran it as Administrator since I use Vista. I got a very odd error message. It said it couldn't install the patch because one of Josh Waitzkin's files (.TUT)is an unknown version.
Any advice for either of these problems would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Are you sure you don't have the 1.02 update already installed?
Open Chessmaster, go to the Help menu, and select 'About Chessmaster: Grandmaster Edition'. The version number will be on the bottom right corner. If it says 'v1.2.0', then you already have the latest update.
Under normal circumstances, you shouldn't need to manually install updates. Chessmaster's auto-update feature checks for and installs updates (provided one is available) every time you run the program.
The issue with ratings has been noted already; however, there is no word on when another update will be released.
