• A new mini-game: Chain Reaction
  The aim of this game is to connect the movement paths of (at least) three pieces of the same kind. A number of random pieces is deployed on the board, the player has to move a piece in order to connect movement paths and/ or discover movement paths connections. If the player makes a chain by connecting pieces of the same kind, he receives points for each connected piece and the connected pieces are removed from the board. If the player moves a piece without connecting or discovering a connection, more pieces are added on the board. Bonus points are awarded when the player connects more than 3 pieces.
  
  
• 5 new chess sets - African, Futura, Humana, Insider and MinimaSteel!
  
• 1 new skin called "Metal"

wow, again a classic of CM staff: never, ever give any relevant information.

so now I'm asking only to the customers, is this a real "patch" that fixes all those bugs, or is it just all those unnecessary mini games and sets?

It appears to be a real patch, however I still see same problems with online play.

the set up position bug is also gone now. nice!

I have a windows Vista and have a problem with chessmaster window.The bottom part of it is cut and I can not see all the letters of oppening used.The unique thing that can I do is cancel WINDOWS AERO.Thanks!

Hi renatojr,

even though your problem is not very clear to me, but I think it has to do with the size or the DPI of you windows' fonts, try to change the size or the DPI of your fonts in : Diplay control panel \ Setting \ Advanced, and see what it does. I hope this fixes it for u.

Thank you, This is what I have done to allow the new chess sets and sharing this for those having a tuff time deciding and how to I created a new folder and named it (whatever you like)making sure it do not conflict with game, placed it in CM grandmaster edition directory. Then mmoved the five .dat files (chessets ) I have chose to remove and placed them in the new folder.This way if I like I may exchange for chess sets witout breaking the 128 sets allowed as mentioned above. The five .dat files I chose were(2d)B0_Shogi_style.dat, (2d)0B0_Shogi_style_playing_black.dat, (3d)A0R_Staunton II enamel II.dat, (3d)A4_Cartoon.dat,(3d)A4_Cartoon CL03.dat. These sets were to me hard to use and and also one was duplicate just a shade difference and the cartoons were too plain as a 3d. Of course you may choose whatever .dat files you like and also the new folder can be used for any xtra .dat files (Chess sets) that you may wantt to exchange or place back in future.

Not sure if this is new to this version or not, but we no longer have to keep the DVD in the disc drive. And there was much rejoicing... yay.

I never downloaded the first patch, if I'm going to install the second one, do I need to install the first one?

Hi, EdwardsNH.
You should let the Autopatch System(gu.exe) to download the patch. In any case it will detect the second patch on the patch server and download it.

There are still some issues with the new tutorial.

I got a problem to install the new update patch CMXI 1.02 patch.

I got a error message said" Cannot create the following file: D\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition\Chessmaster?Grandmaster Editon Manual.$$A"

What is the problem???

I got no problem when I updated the 1.01 patch.

When i install CMXI 1.02Patch

I already have 1.01patch before install 1.02.

At first, I got this problem when I was installing the patch 1.02, but after I changed the language to English from Chinese (PRC) {under the options "Advanced" of Regional and Language Options}, the patch 1.02 can be installed. hope this can help.

hi, does this solve that problem with promoting a pawn on a game, then saving the game as a .pgn, then opening that .pgn file, replaying the game until the promotion, and then the piece that the pawn gets promoted does not show on the board?

That particular problem is still there. I hope they fix that in the next patch.

A work around exists - you go to the next move after the promotion then just click on the move where the promotion happened and the queen (or other piece) now shows up.
