Does anyone know what size the wooden chessboards and pieces are that are used in tournaments such as the Wijk Aan Zee?
Thanks.......... "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" (Edmond Burke 1729-1797) |

Don't most major tournaments use DGT electronic boards and sets?
If so, the squares on the board are 2.25" x 2.25". The height of the King for such a board would be 3.75". DGT boards are nice, but I just can't see paying $750... |

They do typically use DGT boards, but some bigger tournaments don't always use the standard DGT pieces. If it is something special they may use sets from someplace like House of Staunton that have been DGT enabled.
