Hi all,
Has anyone tried running CMX and/or CMXI under VMWare Fusion on Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5)? If so, how well does it work? I'm replacing my PC with a MacBook Pro probably in February but I'd like to continue using CMXI. Thanks, Justin |

Your gonna replace your PC with a MAC???
LOL, don't make that fatal mistake. PC windows is the BEST!! MAC is not good its like an old fasioned typewriter. You will regret taking such decision like this Well it says its compatible with XP/VISTA. Macs are **** but anyway you could try and test it but I can't gurantee you that it will work and even if it does work I don't expect you to be particularly happy with it. |

CK, I'm not interested in starting a flame war over Windows vs. Mac, suffice to say I'm a Unix system administrator, mostly Solaris, so I will love having DTrace on the Mac. However, feel free to PM me if you'd like (so as not to clutter the thread), as I'm curious as how you have come to your conclusions about Windows and Mac OS X.
So, that being said, does anyone who actually has experience with the configuration about which I'm asking (or something similar, e.g. Parallels on Tiger, etc.) have any feedback? Thanks, Justin |

Hi Trans,
what an answer from CruelDumb, CMXI runs smooth under vmware, you have to use the directxmode though. Also if you plan to use the 3d board not every set is diplayed correctly (the glass and metal sets with reflections).I'm using the 2d board anyway and everything works great. Vmware is great too, a bit more elegant than parallels and a bit faster for my taste.I'm a 3dDesigner and work for a german broadcaster, we have a network cluster with unix linux and macs we would never let a windows pc in our reliable network. But i'm stopping here, due to the danger of making dumb pc mac comments too. Have fun, Frank |

Frank,
Thanks for the informative reply! I tend to stick with the classic wood 3D set anyway, so that shouldn't be a problem. I have also noted that the reviews tend to favor VMWare over Parallels, so that's the way I've been leaning, especially since it will let me run Solaris as well. Happy New Year, Justin |
