I carried out the changes to ini file as below:

IntroMovie=0

Saved the changes....but still I get the intro movie.....with violin music.

What might I be overlooking?

You must be updating the wrong INI file...

For this setting, update cm.ini in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition.

That is for Windows XP. If you have Windows Vista you have to modify the cm.ini file that is in the

C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition

Running XP Pro, following KHollister's cm.ini path and editing that ini resolved my problem.

Out of curiosity....what ini will I have changed previously

My guess is that you updated CMDefault.ini -- it resides in the same folder as cm.ini.
