With previous iterations of CM, it was easy to install other chess engines and play them in contests. I do not see how this can be accomplished with Chessmaster Grandmaster edition.
How do I import an engine other than Chessmaster into the current edition of the GUI? I am also interested in playing the engine outside of the Chessmaster GUI, but I do not want to break any rules in doing so. Is there any officially sanctioned position on using InBetween to collect the OPK value? |

Adding a Winboard engine is fairly easy. In Training mode, go to the Game menu, and select 'Import Winboard Engine'... the rest should be self-explanatory.
To add a UCI engine, ses this post: UCI Engine on CMX If you look at the End User License Agreement (EULA), the only thing it says is:
So, obviously, using InBetween isn't supported, but I seriously doubt that a team of lawyers from Ubisoft will beat down your door... Look at this page for more information: Winboard and Chess Engines FAQ Hope this helps! |

You import them like you imported them in previous versions.
Just make sure that you don't try to modify them later, because if you do Chessmaster will report that it is an ivalid file and you won't be able to play with it anymore (The King engine will run instead of the engine X) If you want to run The King outside chessmaster GUI, you will have to retrieve the OPK number everytime (OPK number changes with every restart) otherwise it will just move instantly. |
