Hi There

When I start CM i have following problems:

- The Intro Movie plays fine (including sound).
- The Main Menu however plays slow, and i get repeated notification from the OS that there seem to be new Speakers attached to my computer ?! Never seen that before.
- From there on the program only reacts veeeery slowly, and is not playable.

I've got a Realtek HD OnBoard Sound Device working fine for years and dozens of other games?!

Any hints on this one?

This looks like a non-game related problem. I suggest you look for latest drivers for your graphic card and sound card. Also run dxdiag and see if it finds something.

It's what i did first ... and as i wrote in my initial message ... other games (even ubisoft) run fine :-(

Chess players/games are always more sensitive than other people/games



What if you disable the sound? Do you have Vista or XP ?

LOL! The Players? The Games? Both i guess :-)

Anyways, it's a XP SP 2 Box, running for some years now (Nvidia 7800 GT, P4).

When i start CM I keep getting very surprising messages from the OS about speakers i have plugged in and plugged out again (what of course i did not) (the intro music is still fine). Before and after such a try i can start other games with sound without problems.

I've never seen such a message before. Is there a way to tell CM what kind of sound drivers/interfaces to use (like in NWN2 / CIV 4 where i can select Hardware drivers or Software Drivers / EAX etc.) in the options?

Go to "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition" folder and open the cm.ini file. Under [settings] set

NoAudio=1


Then start Chessmaster. At least we'll see if the whole thing has anything to do with sound.

I've tried this before. Though after a new start of CM the setting is back to 0 and sound is played.
