I find that when playing games with the AI on
my machine, the AI replies very slowly. So
ALL of the time, I beat the AI (Tal, Chessmaster, Morphy personalities, etc) on time when I play
a 5-min blitz game.

Now I'm sure that Chessmaster doesn't function this way because the gameplay becomes very frustrating for me.

In fact I get more fun by using Arena and importing theking350.exe winboard engine on Arena. The games with The King with Arena are more functional and more fun that with CM11 on my laptop (never mind the graphics).

For the rest of you, especially those with Core 2 Duo, I am sure that The King moves very fast, even in blitz games.

Please help me here as I'm not getting much satisfaction out of playing against CM11 personalities. I do get a lot of fun going through Joash's Art of Learning tutorials (thanks Joash!).

that shouldn't happen, computer programs never, ever lose on time normally.

there should be a problem in your computer or your CM.

1)make sure you have downloaded all patches, and do this first.
2)uninstall and reinstall CM.
3)make sure your graphics card drivers are all updated.
4)try changing the "engine priority" in the "engine settings menu", see if this works.
5)try changing the processor the engine and the interface (game.exe) runs on if you have a multiprocessor computer, you could do this in the "task manager."
6)try using 2D boards and no sounds, maybe this could help figuring out what the problem is.

if any of these fail to work out, check out all threads here about freezes, slow downs etc. in this forum, there were many good posts to solve that problem there.

It doesn't happened anymore.

I removed of Stardock's objectdock, DesktopX,
WinBlinds, and the major cause of my problem: XAMPP php system and apache services which were
overloading my poor laptop. The problem was a softwae problem, nothing to do with CM11 !

Now the CM11's AI personalities are working just fine! Thanks for the advice, still.

I have AMD 64 X2 processors on one of my systems and they're lightning-fast even with several resource-intense applications running at once. If your system is slow it's likely not because it's an AMD X2 processor.
