Can someone please explain to me what it means to change the Chess Engine Priority, and the difference between low, medium, and high. If I set it at high, would Chessmaster play much stronger then if it was at low or medium? Also, do I need to change other settings to meet the new Priority, such as Blunder Alert setting etc?
Thanks in Advance. |

Changing the engine priority is not recommended.
If you set it to the highest, you may start experiencing the freeze and slugish behaviour. Thats because the engine will eat up too much resources and there won't be enough left for the graphical interface. Better change the "chess engine used" settings. It seems like you have to restart the game for settings to take affect. |

So, the engine would be much stronger on the highest setting using dual processor only? Would the engine be just as strong on the single processor using the highest setting as well, even though the graphics would be sluggish? Would the chessmaster's rating be much higher on the highest settting?
Thanks. |

An engine running on 1 core, can't possibly be stronger than the same engine running on 2 cores.

Okay, so if I use the high setting on the single core, would the engine play much stronger? Or, is there no difference at all between the medium and high settings on single core, other than being bogged down?

I believe the difference will be absolutelly minimal.
According to this http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/4040/rating_list_all.html Chessmaster 11 running on 2 CPU is rated 2825 Chessmaster 11 running on 1 CPU is rated 2771 |

Interesting. I am running on 1.73 ghz single processor. Chessmaster on my pc has a rating of over 2900. |

That number is meaningless.

|
Why is it meaningless? |

It's over-inflated and always calculated just for 1 CPU. If it would calculate the other CPU too, Chessmaster would give himself a rating of over 3000. The base rating (2724) is much more realistic.
