Kasparov wins the rapid match with 3-1, which is by the way exactly what is expected according to their ratings. Meaning that Kasparov is still performing at the 2800 level. Well at least in this short match against Karpov.

Karpov lost all 3 games (1, 2 and 4) on time, although it must be said that he had worse position in all of them and that he overstepped time limit only because he just couldn't find a reasonable continuation for defending his difficult position.

This of course makes Kasparov an even bigger favourite for the following blitz games (5 min + 2 sec) where there will be even less time to think than in rapid games (25 min + 5 sec).

Press conference after first day (Kasparov only, because Karpov was too disillusioned after 0-2):

Kasparov wins the blitz match with 6-2.
Again exactly the score you would expect from a 2812 rated player against 2619 rated one. Garry is still one tough cookie Wink

Somehow I don't think we will see another exhibition match between these two in Paris (scheduled for December). Karpov will not want to do anything with it anymore.

You can see last moves from each game, and an interview with arbiter, Geurt Gijssen.
