I don't know about the online experience. But Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition is a great game!! I'm so sick of people complaining for the sake of complaining. If this were a perfect game then you would still invent reasons which have no ground whatsoever as to what is wrong with the game. Your arguments are unfounded and if you just tried to think a little while using the game you would be pleased.

Sorry, I don't think so. It maybe a Good offline game, but never a "Great" game. You are only as strong as your weakest link, and if we are to judge this product, then we must judge it as a whole. That means off as well as online. If you or your child were to take a math test that has Number as well as Word problems and you or your child failed the word problems section, are you going to say you or your child are great at math?

Example:

2+2=

Amy can do 51 sit-ups in one minute. Peter can only do 31 sit-ups in one minute.

How many fewer sit-ups can peter do? _______

I don't think you would say you are great at math under those conditions if you were to fail a whole section of the test, and I cannot say that Chessmaster is a great program under those conditions either. If it succeeds in offline and fails in online, then it is not a success. As they (Ubisoft) marketed the program to do well in both areas, of which it does not.

Don't get me wrong, the chess engine that Chessmaster uses, works and plays fine. But remember, it was written by Johan de Koning. He has nothing to do with the buggy Chessmaster GUI or the Ubisoft Online Servers.

This gives you half credit in the public schools because it shows you know the number is more.

Amy can do 51 sit-ups in one minute. Peter can only do 31 sit-ups in one minute.

How many fewer sit-ups can peter do? Peter can do more, it's just that Amy can do more in the first minute.
