Well, since not a lot of people (myself included) have missed this feature, I wouldn't hold your breath about them putting it in a future version.

As to using TheKing with Hiarcs: I believe it can be done, but it's not without some degree of difficulty. That's because TheKing is a Winboard engine, and Hiarcs supports only UCI.

If I remember correctly, the real problem is getting the OPK code, because it changes every time you reboot your computer... many have said it's not worth the effort.

Yes indeed, the "Custom Board" feature. It was an ugly hack that was dumped in favor of the MUCH nicer looking true-3D boards in CM9000. Can't recall if it last appeared in CM7000 or CM8000.

I remember this feature eg with dali chess set.
this feature apply to isometric view.
cm10 and 11 use real 3d not isometric but if u move the set with youre move u can have the same result.
For mixing chess sets u can mix by hands ure set.
go to tutorial create an own chess set.
