That's the mistake don't go through gu.exe. You must go to "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition\Chessmaster.exe"
And then it will automatically tell you that there's is a new update "will you like to update it now?" You click yes. Then update it through the Chessmaster Directory folder not through anything else or it will not work. Click ok and it will update restart Chessmaster through your desktop icon or through "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition\Chessmaster.exe" Click online and enter your serial number from the back of your Chessmaster booklet (Manual) and that's it your ready to go
When I first installed the game it asked me for the CD code when I tried online. I have re-installed the game... Downloaded both patches to game directry and ran them both. I still get the ERR: 50, incompatible client. Anyother ideas?
You shouldn't try online in the first place, u must download the first patch and then try online. You don't need the second patch to play play online. The second patch just has features such as new skin and new chess sets. Try disabling firewall temporarily. If you have Mcafee or Norton that could be the problem try disabling them temporarily and then try again.
