With his 1st round win over Shirov, Kramnik now has a positive or equal score against all top 20 rated players in the world in classical chess - except Gata Kamsky.

Impressive bow

Ivanchuk leads into the last round whole point ahead of the rest. He only needs a draw against Shirov to clich the tournament and thats the most likely result, because both will be happy with it (Shirov probably wants to finish and forget this tournament as soon as posible) However both Shirov and Ivanchuk are unpredictable, so it's not totally out of the question that we could see a great game.

Ivanchuk has shown that he has a good sense of humor, see the end of his game against Ponomariov Wink
Yesterday he and Morozevich were both in severe time trouble and ended up blitzing before reaching the first time control (at move 40). When they made it to the time control, Ivanchuk needed to walk down the tension Smile
Watch the video, it's right at the beginning:

Well he had no reason to, since he end up winning the game Razz

If you look at the game and watch the video, you'll see that Ivanchuk didn't realise that they reached the time control until Morozevich stoped blitzing to input the missing moves in his score sheet. Ivanchuk didn't have to play his last move on the video (41.Qe3) in such a hurry because he already received an extra hour on his clock. Had Morozevich not stoped, they would be blitzing for a little longer Smile

Two games are still being played, but already Ivanchuk is the winner, with 6 1/2 points. Kramnik, Morozevich, and Gelfand are tied for second with 5 points.

Congratulations to Vassily! Smile

After the classical tournament all players except Alexei Shirov are also taking part in blitz tournament where they were joined by players like Carlsen, Karjakin, Grischuk, Karpov, Tkachiev,...

After first 17 rounds Kramnik (11) is leading half a point ahead of Carlsen and Ivanchuk (both 10.5). Tomorrow they will play another 17 rounds with reversed colours.
