Isn't that Garry Kasparov and Mikhail Botvinnik?
I wonder if Garry wore those plaid trousers to a match? They're very distracting! |

To tell you the truth, I don't know the exact answer. It depends on when exactly this picture was taken. Is the lad on the picture older than 12 or not? If he is then the answer is Garry Kasparov and Mikhail Botvinnik, otherwise it's Garry Weinstein and Mikhail Botvinnik
Someone said that Garry is Screech from Saved by the bell |

Well, whoever it is, those trousers certainly made me screech!
|

It's Kasparov and Botvinnik.

Yes, he does seem to be older than 12 years.

How about these two:
Do you recognise both? |

|

Maybe the man on the right side is Anatoly Karpov?

Yes, and the one on the left?
Hint: After this one, they played another 186 games throughout their careers Now it's too easy |

Garry Kasparov
But to be honest I wasn't able to recognize him in this photo! "I like when I break a man's ego."(R.J.Fischer) |

It was their first game, Karpov was already a World champion (or he is to become one very shortly) and Kasparov was 12. It was a simultaneous exhibition game - GM's against young pioneers

If that was the picture of their first game, this is the picture from their last one (31 years later). Except from grey hairs and a few wrinkles, nothing has changed - they have the same pose and face expression as in that first picture. Also Karpovs haircut is more or less the same
Here is another one. Who are they? |

|
Chessmaster Moderator![]() |
Bobby Fischer and Susan Polgar.
|

Excellent. Fischer played many fischer-random chess games with the Polgar's while he lived in their summer house. They are unwilling to disclosure the results
Here is a tougher challenge for you: Who are they? You can test yourself here. The record is 24.7 seconds |

I don't recognize the person on the left...
The person on the right looks like Vladimir Kramnik -- in dire need of a haircut. |

Hint for the picture on the left: The picture was taken sometimes in the mid 50's and the person on the picture is about 23-25 years old. I'll give you more hints after some guessing |
|||
|

Second hint: The man on the left picture (above) was a world championship challenger.
By the way, here is Kramnik in his Weird Al Yankovich days |

Okay, I'm probably wrong; but I'll make a guess of Mikhail Tal...
All that Kramnik is missing in that picture is a chessy mustache. |

Third hint: He played in 2 and a half (
