I know the player ratings is a sensitive subject, so let me ask about the Match the Masters evaluations from the advanced drill. I scored just shy of 2200, and don't believe I'm anywhere near that level. On other Match the Masters I think I recall generally scoring above 1800, and I get similar results in the Chess Solitaire from Chess Life. I suspect these tests are just blatantly inflated.
In real life, my rating is a bit shy of 1300 ... that's from maybe 15 years ago ... I've learned a good bit more theory since then, but probably don't have the concentration I used to. In a 10 minute game I can only beat CM personalities up to about 1130. In longer games I'm over 1200, but probably below 1400. In the Pandolfini diagnostic exams I probably average 1500 to 1600 (taking LOTS of time). So the Match the Masters/Chess Solitaire tests are distant outliers for me. Does everyone else have the same experience? Thanks... |
