I have been using CMXI to help me teach chess to my son. Everything was going well until we got to doing the drills in the Chessmaster Academy. I am frequently having this 'stall' and tell me it is waiting for the drill. It doesn't matter how long I wait, the drill never comes.
Has anyone else seen this issue? I am fully patched, running on Vista. |

I'm finishing up some of the tutorials now and was disappointed to find the drills not working. I really hope it gets addressed, and not forgotten.

I also have the same problem with the drills. I am currently dealing with the ubi technical support via email but i don't think an actual person has read it since I only seem to be getting generic responses for different things to try. My question is to you guys, is there any one out there who the drills actually do work for. I would like to know if it is just there bugy software or just my machine so I can stop trying to change every setting imaginable on my computer to get it to work like they are suggesting. Another thing I notice is sometimes I'll get a drill to work but all ten problems of the drill are exactly the same.

In the "Fun" section the drills are working on my computer. Only if I press skip it says "waiting for drill" and nothing happens, but if I press cancel and select the drill again it is working again.
In the "Academy" it is another story. There it works for a couple of drills but then it hangs. The drills in the "Fun" section are the same as the drills in "Academy" - beginner level. |

Don't worry maestro, it's not your machine. You're just getting the same scripted tech support emails that I got.

yeah i am starting to realise that. They had me send them my system information then they sent me an email saying my video drivers were not up to date but i just updated it to the latest versions. Just to be sure though I ran various software programs that checks your machine to see if your drivers are all up to date. All of them said that all of my drivers were up to date. I just replied to their email telling them that and am now waiting for a response. I would really like to hear some one say that the drills work fine on their machine so that I could figure this out but from the sounds of it I am just going to have to hope that maybe ubi gets their **** together and comes out with a new patch soon that addresses the problem.

I too am having problems with the drills.
I occasionally get the 'waiting' mentioned, and in some cases repeating of two problems until the end. Also, I can not finish certain drills as it will not let me move to the correct answer. Is their likely to be a new patch to fix the drill problems? |

Unfortunately, it's not known when another update will be released. Ubisoft's policy is not to discuss patches (including delivery dates) until the day they're officially released.

Just purchased and installed CM11 and the patches (needed to run as admin on vista for them to install)
Worked through Josh's part of the academy and was empressed. Looking forward to revisting it to ensure that the classes remain in the old grey matter. Very disappointed that the drills section does not work. I either get the same drill over and over again or the "waiting" flashing away until I eventually give up and exit the drills area. This would be a very important part of the application for me and from reading various posts throughout the forums this issue has still not been addressed. Am I missing an update? or is this still the state of play with CM11. |

No, the latest update is 1.2.0. Unfortunately, there's still problems with the drills.
No information on when the next update will be released... |
