Hi,
I haven't encounter a topic discussing the superior tweaked personalities over the default one.... I'll provid examples and links later this evening.... |

Well, where can we see those setings?

You don't have a clue how many tweaked personalities are out there that are much stronger than the default chess engines and I am talking about The King 3.23,3.33 & 3.50 |

Okay, I'll grant you there are several personalities that might be stronger, but it looks like you're only using them to play other personalities.
Watching personalities play each other might provide a little amusement, but frankly, I'd get bored very, very soon. I bought Chessmaster because I want to play chess. |

No,in my rating list these personalities may sometimes face each other in a tournament depending on their position in the rating list,but most of the time they play top rated chess programs and by the way,at this very moment,I am playing a tournament with some of them....

Now you have to explain to the interested users how to convert those winboard parameters to chessmaster GUI parameters
|
|||
|
Unfortunately,I don't have a clue how to do this as I test them outside the Chessmaster GUI.I think that there was a converting formula somewhere....
You can contact Graham Banks in the links I provided,I think that he can help.... |

Well, for example myr=120 means that (under material tab) you should set "own rook" to 120% of the default value (5.0 pawns), meaning it should be set to 6.0.
But I think this simple formula gets distorted if you change the attacker/defender and positional/material settings. |
|||
|
Definitely things are more complicated than that,if I find something regarding this issue I'll post here

It is so simple. I tested it. I took the Archangel settings and set new personality inside Chessmaster GUI as following:
myp=116 -- "own pawn" should be set to 1.16, but since this is impossible I have set it to 1.2 myn=120 -- "own knight" to 3.6 myb=120 -- "own bishop" to 3.6 myr=120 -- "own rook" to 6.0 myq=124 -- "own queen" to 11.2 (11.16 should be the exact value) opp=116 -- "opponents pawn" to 1.2 (1.16 should be the exact value) opn=120 -- "opponents knight" to 3.6 opb=120 -- "opponents bishop" to 3.6 opr=120 -- "opponents rook" to 6.0 opq=124 -- "opponents queen" to 11.2 (11.16 is the exact value) mycc=124 -- "own centre control" to 124 mymob=124 -- "own mobility" to 124 myks=154 -- "own king safety" to 154 mypp=118 -- "own passed pawns" to 118 mypw=118 -- "own pawn weakness" to 118 opcc=124 -- "opponents center control" to 124 opmob=124 -- "opponents mobility" to 124 opks=154 -- "opponents king safety" to 154 oppp=118 -- "opponents passed pawns" to 118 oppw=118 -- "opponents pawn weakness" to 118 avd=0 -- "attacker/defender" to 0 sop=100 -- "strength of play" to 100 rnd=0 -- "randomness" to 0 sel=21 -- "selective search" maximum inside Chessmaster GUI is 16, so you can't set it to 21 cfd=0 -- "contempt for draw" to 0 md=99 -- "maximum depth" to 99 Then I replaced The King engine with an old version of Crafty and started a game against this personality. Ng5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So you see, it is that simple. The values match, except with myp and opp where I had to take 1.2 instead of the exact value of 1.16. P.S.: The material/positional setting distorts everything. If you set it to -100 (totaly material) then all material values are multiplied by 3 and all positional settings get decresed by about 50. If you set material/positional setting to 100 (totaly positional) all material settings get decreased for 50 and all positional settings get multiplied by 3. With carefull balancing and little adjusting it is possible to achieve that a pawn would be worth 1.16 like it should be. |
