First round complete. Tomorrow quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played.
Quarter-finals start at 12.00 and 14.30 local time. Semi-finals at 18.00 local time (use this to convert to your time zone). Time control is 20 min + 5 sec increment. If the regular two game match (4 in the final) is tied, two blitz games with 3 min + 2 sec increment are played. If still tied, the decisive armageddon game is played (white has 5 minutes and has to win, black has 4 minutes but only needs to draw). |

Gelfand and Svidler advance into the final. The final is best of 4 games, starting tomorrow at 12.00 local time.

Svidler was on it's way to tieing the match to 2-2 and forcing the blitz tie-breaks when disaster struck - he stepped into a forced mate!
So the final score is 3-1 for Boris Gelfand who will take home the trophy. |
