Is this a common problem, and how can I fix it? My system is kind of old, but still exceeds the minimum and even recommended requirements. (amd64 3.2 ghz, 1 meg ram, 7600 gt video card, win xp).
I can't even play a game. It just freezes up with lag. I can make a move, but it takes like 3 minutes for my move to register, and then 3 minutes for the computer's move to register. And by the time I get my second move, 3 minutes have been lost off my clock, even though my moves would have only taken me 2 seconds to think and make. That was in "training mode", which is the whole reason I bought the game. I haven't tried online playing yet, but I bought this software specifically for the tutorials and training modes. The openings tutorials worked fine.

I'm going to assume that you meant 1 Gigabyte of RAM. Even so, that's pretty stingy with a 64 bit computer. I'd use SixamGMT's workaround in the meantime, but ultimately I'd get more RAM. If you are running 64bit XP (and you really should be if you have a 64-bit CPU) then it can address more than 4 GB of RAM (assuming it will fit in your motherboard.)
I'm running Vista 64 with 8GB of RAM, and Chessmaster works perfectly, even with all performance features cranked up to the max.
