Rather than another version, I wish they would release another update, as many of the reported issues (rating problems, tutorial and drill issues, menu inconsistencies, etc.) shouldn't be extremely hard to fix.
It would be nice if something could be done about the high CPU usage and Online Play issues as well; but I imagine that would mean a large-scale re-architecture, and that would be very costly and time-consuming.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion -- I don't know anything about programming game software, just business applications that are dull and boring in comparison.
Too bad. I was looking forward to see more annotated games...
Josh games are quite good, but he always usually plays E4, and there are few games starting D4 (what I usually play). It would be interesting to see more annotated games describing how to play against Kings Indian, Benoni, Benko, Slav Defense etc.. MORE CLOSED GAMES! So far i am looking at a database, but there is no description..
I know that Larry Evans comentated Alehine (my favorite) against Lasker, and showed how even closed games can have attacking style, and not just E4 (Open Sicilian etc..), but it would be good to see more of these games.
Over a year ago, I heard that a new Macintosh version was in development. However, I haven't heard anything since that time, which leads me to doubt that is actually true...
When Chessmaster 12 comes out, although I have no idea when, if its 2 months or 2 years or more..
I hope the window can be sized better. Right now it looks like its limited to 1280x1024. Heheh, larger monitors are definately making inroads. Even laptops have 17 inch screens with a whopping 1900x1200 pixels. Althought it seems like the pixels might be on the tiny side.
Another thing I wanted to mention was that I think The King engine is starting to get a bit long in the tooth compared to other engines (even free) that are widely available. Rybka, Shredder, Fritz are all clearly better than Chessmaster. And other programs, especially Fritz are starting to really push for more bling in the product, thereby watering down Chessmaster's long running goal of being more than a chess program, but also a well rounded program to improve a person's ability to play chess at all levels of play.
I still like Chessmaster, but I'd be happier if The King chess engine played in the 3000+ range. Right now its just looking stale compared to the competition.
