I was going to ask this through Ubisoft website, but somehow it doesn't let me log in. I have problems with the game and its website. This is frustrating.

I'm trying to run Chessmaster on Vista. My system is well above the requirements. I won't go into detailed system stuff (It's not quad processor), but my old computer worked fine. Now that I have new, better laptop, chessmaster doesn't work well. How funny.

The only problem is in the ranked play. My opponent takes like two minutes or more to make a move. It doesn't take that long everytime, but after the opening move, the computer seems to have a hard time. Everytime it does that, the CPU goes like 100%. Never happened in my old, slower computer.

I tried turnning off post game analysis, reinstalling, installing 1.20 path, changing process priorities. Nothing works. I can't even get to ask question to support staff, because I can't login either.

Does anybody have explanation for this?

Using your whole CPU is normal, AI opponent slowing down when out of opening book is normal too. At what time controls do you play? Does the timer run down normally or does it freeze from time to time?

I give 60 minutes. However, I tried regular 10 minutes or 60 mins. Doesn't seem to affect the slow-down.

Well this may very well be normal. I'm playing against players with 1200 ratings or so. If I choose, say, 600, they're quite fast. Could this be normal?

I remember my old desktop (with similar or little less power) didn't have such problem, but hey, I might be competing against somewhat harder opponent right now.

I don't know what to think. this may be normal, or a technical problem. How long does a move take normally in other people's computer?

Sub 900 rated personalities always move instantly no matter the time control, higher rated (except few exceptions) take their time to actually calculate something.

The ammount of time a personality will spend on a move depends on the time control. If you give it 60 minutes then of course it can take up to three minutes before it will make a move. If you set the timer to 10 minutes than it can take maximum a minute or minute and a half to make a move.
