I recently installed Chessmaster: Grandmaster on my PC. The game does seem to run fine but I am unable to get updates to work.
When I ran the program for the first time the autoUpdate program downloaded a large file but I dont think it installed properly. Each time I start chessmaster the autoUpdate program asks me do I want to install the downloaded update, I click yes, but it still comes up with the same thing everytime I start the game. Version 1.00 still shows when I run the game. I tried downloading and installing the 1.01 and 1.02 manually but they dont seem to run. Any suggestions |

If you have Windows Vista you have to run the patch as administrator. Right click on the patch and select "run as administrator".

Then your WinXP user account probably doesn't have the administrator privileges.
In Vista you have to confirm almost every action three times, no matter what "For this action you need administrative privileges. Would you like to enable them?" YES NO (clicking YES) "This will enable administrator privileges" (CONTINUE CANCEL) (clicking CONTINUE) "Do you want to delete file XYZ ?" YES NO (clicking YES) "This will delete the file XYZ. Do you really want to proceed?" YES NO [to be continued] |
