I have the same problem.
Firewall is turned off now to test and it still doesn't work (on-line play seems to work well).
Anybody who knows if this problems is fixed (or howto fix it).
if it's a LAN setup problem I'm sure someone should know the correct setup (I use the wizard in WindowsXP so I guess it's setup correctly).

Just because you used a wizrd doesn't mean you've got everything configured correctly... First, do you have all the required ports open? (see the Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition FAQ for details) Second, I assume that you've purchased a copy of Chessmaster for each computer? If you have only one copy of Chessmaster, there's a good chance it won't work (not to mention, that's piracy)...

Well the Windows Firewall is deactivated and I turned my firewall (Anti-Virus) on deactive so I guess all needed ports should be open ?
I've only got it installed on 1 computer at the moment since I only own 1 copy yet (just got it yesterday)
I saw on these forums that there were some problems with network gaming, even some people advised to use Fritz or someting ? So I just decided to check if it would work before getting a 2nd copy at the store.

Just because you've turned off your firewall software doesn't mean all the necessary ports are open. As I said, read the Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition FAQ... it specifically states which ports need to be open on your switch/router. After that, you'll need to configure your anti-virus/firewall software to allow the same ports.
