No, not really. I've never been one to get blown away by eye-candy. Those old games weren't great because of their looks, but the gameplay and the storyline. Enhancing (improving) the graphics would TAKE AWAY the focus from the things that really mattered in those games IMO. Simply put, don't touch my beloved old classics. Ubisoft, keep your grubby little hands...OFF 'EM! :O) "The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings or endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning." |

Charles said it good enough really. Its about gameplay and storyline. Thats whats mostly been forgotten in todays games that are all about graphics. I mean most games I love dont have that fancy graphics or need state of the art equipment. (and they didnt back when they were released either) So yeah... No remakes of these games unless ofcourse the storyline would be intact and expanded in a good way by the original designers. Everytime you post a repetitive topic a moderator dies! For me who has never played a M&M game beyond starting it up and then quiting, the gameplay factor would be the thing that's improved by new graphics and interface design.
Nostalgia only goes so far and then I need functionality, eg. Starcraft, use to play it but the interface is so clunky compared to any recent game that I just can't play anymore without cringing. Since I haven't really played M&M there is no nostaglia for me, I couldn't get into the game if I tried. Perhaps a new game taken straight off the original could make me enjoy a series I should have played. The main worry is that anyone who would make an attempt would want their own little contributions and additions to the game and eventually you end up with Oblivion, not M&M with new graphics, but a game that is a bare shadow of past glory and probably dumbed down for mass appeal. I'd rather a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy. |
