If I remember rightly when Heroes V was released there was a lady named sorceress who was a frequent poster. Then there was a weird thing where her account supposedly got 'hacked' and we never heard from her again.

Anyone know?

She was abducted by aliens/HodgePodge/BioWareZ/etc. Who knows..

She suddenly seemed to go crazy, started deleting her posts a short while after making them, then deleted all of the old posts as well.
Then she became a bit abusive in her posts and also started defending and agreeing with people she'd always seemed to dislike before, then deleted her posts and vanished. It was at this point that speculation about someone else using her account arose.
A few months later she returned, posting about how much she liked the game, then started deleting her posts again, finally she started posting about how she'd lost interest in HoMM and it was a rubbish game, deleted her posts and we haven't seen her since.
If her account wasn't hacked, she had may have had some mental health issues, those were not the actions of a normal person.

Interesting thought, perhaps that's it. I hadn't considered it but in light of posting behavior it does make sense.

If you are serious you might try Betrayal at Krondor from abandonia. I never got very far but I remember it being pretty fun.

Hmm, I love d&d types of fantasy games - so Fallout wouldn't cut it for me. Although I really didn't give it a chance.
I'm waiting for Dragon Age which is being developed by stinky bioware..

Tell me about this Betrayal - does it have a good combat system? It can make or break a game for me. Lets say it's good if it resemles, in its complexity, the ad&d rules system.

Ugh, it's been probably 10 years since I played it.

I remember there was a seperate tactical screen for combat. I also remember there was a big difference in power and hp between for example a thief and a fighter. I remember the mages being very effective provided they had enough mana. There may have been some los involved.

So yes, it was a party game, and I remember it having a good system, my view might be very different now, I'll have to try it again.

For me the cream of the crop is Wizardry 8.

Betrayal at Krondor is based of Raymond E. Fiest's Riftwar saga (and was later converted into a book in the series).

It's old school, but pretty fun. As for the rules, it had it's own rules but very tactical. There where lots of different potions, oils and items you could use to boost the character or their weapons/armor.
