Grab ideas from here, there and everywhere, stitch them together in a suitable plotline and hope it sells, if it does, repeat the process as many times as you like untill you have
1. enough money
2. run out of ideas
3. been driven crazy by over enthusiastic fans
4. want to write about other things

I like Harry Potter books! People say lots of bad things about them but they are fun and easy to read. The last book was great. The epilogue was a bit weird though.

Meanwhile, I found the Lord of the Rings books simply boring. I stuck in a chapter about ents and their wives (or whatever they were), probably somewhere in 2nd book. I just kept reading and reading about them, nothing was happening and I finally gave up.

Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against the books, or any other series that brings pleasure to the reader, but J.K. made no secret of how she set out to make money by creating a storyline that would sell, I just don't think she realised the impact her first book would have.

Indeed. LotR is about lots and lots and lots of lore. That's what makes it fun to some, and boring for others

i've read an article on the newspaper before stating that J.K. Rowling will kill harry potter so that no other author can make another story of harry potter...i haven't read the last book, i hope harry wont die...
